Houthis claim responsibility for launching ballistic missiles on Israel
The missile, identified as a Zulfiqar ballistic type, "successfully hit its target," said Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree in a televised address broadcast by the group’s media outlet.
Saree also disclosed that Houthi forces had carried out "several military operations" earlier in the week, targeting "sensitive" locations and military facilities in Israeli cities including Beer Sheva, Jaffa (Tel Aviv), and Haifa. He stated that these actions involved both ballistic missiles and drones and were all "successfully executed."
He described these operations as "a form of support for the oppressed Palestinian people," asserting that the group would persist with its "supportive military operations until the aggression on Gaza ceases and the blockade is lifted."
In response, the Israeli military said that a missile launched from Yemen on Saturday morning was "most likely successfully intercepted."
Israel’s national emergency response agency reported that there were no immediate signs of impact or injuries.
After the missile launch, warning sirens were heard throughout southern parts of Israel, including in the cities of Beer Sheva and Dimona, as well as around the Dead Sea area, prompting large numbers of residents to take cover in shelters.
