Flash Floods Leave Ten Wounded in Yemen’s Aden

(MENAFN) Flash floods unleashed by intense rainfall struck Yemen’s southern port city of Aden on Tuesday, injuring 10 people and inflicting widespread damage, a government official told media.

Speaking anonymously, the official described how heavy rains submerged residential areas, inundating homes and businesses. Local residents reported that the downpour also paralyzed traffic across the city.

According to a local news agency, Aden Governor Ahmed Hamed Lamlas has issued emergency orders directing health authorities to provide full medical care to flood victims at government expense.

The government’s Meteorological Forecasting and Early Warning Center forecast continued precipitation over the next hours in eastern and southwestern coastal zones, as well as along the Red Sea coast.

Citizens were urged "to exercise caution," particularly in flood-prone areas, to avoid valleys and flood channels, and to stay off slippery, muddy roads.
